Awareness

Awareness is all about ways to enhance your awareness of your surroundings, of tuning into things that we normally overlook or pass by. If you possess a heightened  level of awareness, then tracking becomes much easier.

"There is not a moment in the day, whether in nature or in the city, that the questions "What happened here?" and "What is this telling me?" are not foremost in my mind. Master trackers are never satisfied with the way that even the most accomplished naturalist views the world. We must penetrate beyond even intense awareness and see the world as Grandfather saw it. Only then can we hope to fuse our consciousness with that of the natural world and beyond, to that of the spirit."
-- Tom Brown Jr, from The Science and Art of Tracking
